    As I have gotten older I am increasingly aware that I need to improve my lifestyle in order to retain my health. So I’ve been checking out many of the diets and lifestyle guides available. I am particularly impressed with the DASH Diet because it has been recognized and endorsed by many medical and health organizations for the past 5 years. This book was very informative by explaining what the DASH Diet is, why it was developed, how it works and what it can do for me.

    The book includes two ways to begin the lifestyle change, either the quick start Phase 1 to start losing weight, or the less intense Phase 2 if weight loss is not your goal but increased health is. It contains a 14-day meal plan to help get started. I also liked that the author acknowledges that there will be times when you don’t follow the diet and she is understanding and reasonable about that happening. She recommends just getting back on it and don’t lose your focus.

    The recipes all sounded easy to make and will be a big help when I start shopping since some of the items are not on my usual list. Using non-sodium based spices and flavorings will be a new experience for me.

    I’m excited to start this new way of eating and seeing the health and weight loss benefits it will provide.

    The initial weight loss is impressive and helped motivate me to stick with the plan. From 238 to 215 now. I have High blood pressure and after 3 months, my doctor cut my medicine in half. My doctor said not many people can do what I have done. I still need work on my cholesterol but I feel in time and with more exercise, I will get it in line too. Hey, we all know what we SHOULD be doing, this book gives you a great road map to do it. Good Luck and gain joy from your health all the time, not what you shove in your mouth for 5 minutes!
