    I was having some sort of “mystery” intestinal issue that my health care provider could not correctly diagnose. A battery of tests including a contrast CT scan ruled out all of the typical answers. All they could tell me was that my colon was swollen (not diverticulitis or IBD); I could not tolerate regular food so I put myself on an alternating liquid/soft diet and eliminated food allergens (I have a degree in Dietetics) for eight weeks. With minimal change in my colon, I began to look for other solutions and I wanted them to be “natural”, not medical or invasive.

    I ordered the book because I heard an online interview with her and she sounded knowledgeable and genuine. I also liked the fact that she is a practicing doctor who embraces natural solutions and has patients who have seen healing under her care.

    I wasn’t disappointed. After following her prescribed dietary changes and adding in her beneficial suggestions, I saw my colon begin to heal itself. I believe God designed our bodies to heal themselves in many situations and He created real food to serve as the “medicine”.

    I would estimate that I’m 80% better after just a few weeks and I anticipate a full return to normal in a few more. Most importantly, I learned many things from Dr.Teta that I will implement permanently into my diet to maintain healthy digestion for the rest of my life.

    I routinely read books on improving health and nutrition and I have to say that this is one of the most comprehensive and easy-to-follow books on gut health that I have ever read. Dr. Teta takes complicated science and explains it in a way that is accessible to most readers. Her Gut Restoration Program is not only very reasonable, but she makes it easy on you by giving you a month long meal plan and recipes that actually sound awesome!
    My family has a history with many of the digestive disorders described in this book and I’ve tried to incorporate elements of GAPS, SCD, and Paleo diets into my life, but sometimes keeping track of all the information spread over different books based on different theories is very challenging.
    I feel like this book gives great suggestions, concise descriptions and strategies for getting to the bottom of one’s gut issues. Although the book primarily suggests the changing of diet and the intake of nutritional supplements, there are a few scenarios in which Dr. Teta recommends some conventional medicine approaches, showing that that she is a well-rounded doctor who believes that the sustainable approach to healing ones body involves’s individual-based lifestyle changes, but modern Western medicine can sometimes be a player in that process.
    I will recommend this book to ANYONE that I know with any digestive issues. It’s a great read.

    This book is a must read for anyone with a digestive disorder. I am a Registered Nurse (RN) and Holistic Health Coach at FoodieRN who focuses on digestive health. I attend seminars, listen to podcasts and read all I can on digestion. This book reinforces everything I have learned and I love having all the information in one place. It will be really helpful for me when helping others.

    I love how it starts by detailing how the digestive system works. This is important information because a simple thing like chewing your food 20 times prior to swallowing can help the body break it down and absorb it easier. Also, I really like how several of the common digestive disorders each have their own healing protocol. This allows the individual to really customize the gut healing protocol to their specific needs.

    This is a great book for anyone who has a digestive disorder and wanting to get better. Follow the protocol, adjust it to your needs and see what happens.
