Animal Health Industry Forecast to Reach $19 Billion in 2019; Demand for Healthy Diet on the Rise

Wellesley, Mass. (PRWEB) March 09, 2015

Wellesley, Mass., March 9, 2015 ? BCC Research (http://www.bccresearch.com) reveals in its new report on animal therapeutics and diagnostics that in contrast to human blockbuster-oriented pharmaceuticals, animal health is dominated by a large number of products with small revenues. Although there are hundreds of products offered in the animal health market, only a couple dozen products have sales exceeding $ 100 million per year. However, the industry continues to forge on. The fastest growing therapeutic categories are in the area of companion animals, specifically in the allergy and respiratory and arthritis and pain segments of the market.

The animal health industry is responsible for maintaining the health and productivity of the more than 3 billion livestock and more than 50 billion poultry worldwide and ensuring the wholesomeness and abundance of the food it produces. Despite this, the human healthcare market is 30 times larger than the combined market for all nonhuman species. The reality is that the global animal health market is very complex, operating under stringent and increasingly strict regulations similar to those for human health, yet the market opportunities are considerably smaller.

By 2019, the animal therapeutics and diagnostics market is likely to reach a value of nearly $ 46.5 billion, with a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2014 through 2019 of 4.2%. The pharmaceutical segment accounts for the largest percentage of revenues with nearly 42%. Pharmaceuticals include a number of drug classifications, including allergy treatments, anti-infectives, anti-inflammatories, metabolic drugs, parasite control and other specialized drugs. Sales for animal pharmaceuticals were valued at $ 15.9 billion for 2014 and are anticipated to increase to nearly $ 19 billion by 2019.

In an increasingly risky environment for new product development, the difference between achievement and failure in the future usually lies in successfully identifying the next growth segment, developing the right product candidates and being the first to market. Despite all these risks, the industry continues to grow.

A challenging aspect of the animal health market is within the animal food industry as consumers continue to express concern about the conditions under which their daily food is produced. ?Consumers are becoming more health conscious, and demanding healthy and balanced diets,? says BCC Research analyst Melissa Elder. ?The growing trend of natural and organic food is creating a niche market opportunity for suppliers. By implementing a feeding plan that provides vitamins and supplements, consumers enjoy additional nutritional benefits.? Additionally, healthy feeding results in minimized impact on the environment.

Global Markets for Animal Therapeutics and Diagnostics provides an overview of products included in animal therapeutics and diagnostics market and its detailed market analyses and competitive environments. The study includes information about significant products, players, issues and trends, and other information affecting this market through 2019.

Juice and Smoothie Bars in the US Industry Market Research Report Now Available from IBISWorld

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 20, 2014

The Juice and Smoothie Bars industry has grown steadily over the past five years as operators have adapted to rapidly changing consumer preferences. In recent years, the perceived high sugar content of some smoothies and juices has forced the industry to adapt its offering. For this reason, cold press juice, which is made by hydraulically chopping and crushing produce such as spinach, kale and ginger without using heat, thereby yielding highly nutritious juice, has risen to prominence. According to IBISWorld Industry Analyst Andy Brennan, ?Industry revenue is expected to increase 2.3% per year to $ 2.2 billion on average over the five years to 2014.? The industry is anticipated to grow 3.8% in 2014, helped by the popularity of cold pressed juice.

The Juice and Smoothie Bars industry has been invigorated over the past five years by the cold press juice craze. Just five years ago, cold pressed juice was a niche trend, popular only with health fanatics. However, cold pressed juice has hit the mainstream and given rise to hundreds of new juice bars, typically selling juice at higher price points. However, the long shelf life of cold pressed juice has exposed the industry to greater competition, as it allows competing retailers without juicing machines, such as coffee shops, supermarkets and gyms, to sell fresh, healthy juice. This was emphasized in 2011 when Starbucks purchased Evolution Fresh, a cold pressed juice producer, to expand its in-store juice offerings. In early 2014, Jamba Juice, the industry’s largest player, announced it will roll out customizable whole-food blending to 300 of its 800 locations by the end of the year.

The industry will continue to evolve over the next five years, in line with consumer preferences. Due to increasing competition and less certainty about future consumer tastes, the industry is expected to become more nimble, with juice bars subletting space from existing retailers. Already, Jamba Juice is focusing on smaller locations with more flexible store fit outs, meaning it is subject to lower overheads. ?The cold pressed juice craze is expected to continue for at least the short term, as consumers continue to demand menus low in sugar and high in nutrients,? says Brennan. The average industry profit margin is expected to expand slightly, though it will remain low due to fierce competition and rising input prices. Overall, industry revenue is projected to increase over the next five years.

Expanding Population Base and Changing Meat Consumption Patterns Drive the Global Meat Market, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc. {twittertitle}{linksharetitle}{shareasaletitle}

San Jose, California (PRWEB) August 05, 2014

Follow us on LinkedIn ? Meat can typically be classified into two types, fresh and processed. Fresh meat is cut from freshly slaughtered carcasses. Processed meat is a product wherein properties of fresh meat are modified by means of various procedures such as mincing, grinding or chopping, salting, curing, and addition to seasoning, among others. Meat is primarily processed for the purpose of preservation. Preservation procedures typically cause several changes in texture and flavor of meat. Strong demand across the world, primarily driven by growth in population and economic prosperity, has led to significant growth in meat trade over the past few decades. Global exports of poultry, pork and beef have grown more than 40% in the past decade and the year 2014 is expected to be another record-breaking year for exports driven by stronger demand from recovering economies.

East Asia represents a lucrative market for meat. Mounting demand in Sub-Saharan African and Middle Eastern regions is also expected to contribute to the growth in meat trade. Leading cattle producing countries worldwide include India, the United States, Brazil, Argentina and China. The European Union, China, Brazil, Russia, Vietnam, Canada, and Japan are the leading producers of swine worldwide. Leading meat importing countries include the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and Germany. Argentina, Australia, Denmark and the Netherlands represent leading meat exporters in the global market. In terms of consumption, China represents the largest meat consuming nation worldwide, followed by the United States. The higher consumption figure in China is attributed to its huge population while in terms of per capita consumption, the United States is number one followed by Brazil in the second position.

Future growth will be primarily driven by rapid urbanization and the global push for higher protein diets leading to a spurt in per capita consumption of meat. Increased meat retailing as a result of mushrooming hypermarkets and supermarkets is boosting consumption of meat and meat products. Other important factors encouraging market expansion include better quality meat, low transportation costs, improved distribution system, highly developed slaughter facilities, improved disease control measures, and better livestock management policies. Increasing popularity of branded meat products that ensure safety and offer enhanced quality is also expected to bode well for market growth.

As stated by the new market research report on Meat (Fresh and Processed), Asia-Pacific represents the largest market worldwide. Population growth, rising income levels, increasing demand for convenience foods, rapid urbanization, and rising consumption of animal protein represent key growth drivers in the region. The significantly lower per capita consumption of meat in Asian countries provides untapped potential for market expansion. China and India are forecast to be at the forefront of future growth in the market. Pork represents the largest consumed meat category worldwide. Poultry ranks as the fastest growing market supported by its relatively lower price and easy accessibility for majority of consumers across the world. Additionally, increased demand for low-carbohydrate and low-fat diets is fuelling demand for chicken meat.

Key players covered in the report include Amadori Group, BRF Brasil Foods SA, Cargill Meat Solutions Corp., ConAgra Foods Inc., Cremonini S.p.a., Danish Crown A/S, Dawn Farm Foods Ltd., Elpozo Alimentacion S.A, Foyle Food Group, Hormel Foods Corp., Itoham Foods Inc., JBS S.A, Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., Kepak Group, Kraft Foods Inc., Maple Leaf Foods Inc., Nippon Meat Packers Inc., Perdue Farms, Prima Meat Packers Ltd., San Miguel Pure Foods Company Inc., Sara Lee Corp., Smithfield Foods, Inc., and Tyson Foods, Inc., among others.

Organic Crop Farming in Australia Industry Market Research Report Now Available from IBISWorld

Melbourne, Australia (PRWEB) July 11, 2014

Organic Crop Farming in Australia has benefited from organic food being launched into the limelight over the past decade. According to IBISWorld industry analyst Brooke Tonkin, ?Although it was once considered to be an alternative food eaten only by minority groups, a growing number of consumers are now purchasing organic food.? Organic crop farmers have reaped the benefits of growing demand for organic fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and herbs over the past five years. Industry revenue is expected to post annualised growth of 11.0% over the five years through 2014-15, to reach $ 264.9 million. This includes forecast growth of 6.0% for 2014-15. Strong consumer demand for organic produce has driven the industry’s growth over the past five years. Organic fruits and vegetables are often perceived to be healthier than their conventionally farmed counterparts due to the absence of chemicals and genetically modified organisms in their production. This perception has fuelled demand for organic crops over the past five years.

Farmers have benefited from direct consumer demand for fruits and vegetables and indirect demand, through processors, for organic grains for use in breads and cereals. To a lesser extent, concerns about the negative environmental effects of conventional farming have also driven the industry’s growth. Operators have been drawn towards the industry by the price premiums and higher profit margins that organic produce attracts. It takes three years for a potential entrant to become certified organic, meaning there is a substantial lag between planning to enter the industry and actually becoming a participant. Growth prospects for the industry remain strong. ?Consumer demand for organic produce is anticipated to strengthen, on the back of rising health consciousness and growth in disposable incomes,? says Tonkin. Furthermore, strong overseas demand for organic beef is expected to bode well for organic crop farmers, through demand for organic feedstock produced from grains.

The Organic Crop Farming industry is characterised as having a low level of market share concentration, which is partly influenced by the largely labour-intensive nature of organic farming. This creates an absence of sizeable economies of scale in organic crop production, which discourages larger players from entering the industry. Consequently, there are no major players in the industry. Low industry concentration is the prevailing trend across the broader agriculture sector, given the prevalence of family-owned enterprises. Industry operators tend to specialise in the production of several organic products, to obtain some level of economies of scale. The increasing importance of large supermarket chains as final markets may contribute to increased concentration in the industry over the next five years. This is because supermarkets demand consistent supply levels, which are usually achieved through expansion and vertical integration.
