Common Treatments for Seasonal Allergies Hinder Efforts to Conceive

Washington, DC (PRWEB) May 17, 2011

If you are trying to get pregnant, think twice before taking standard prescribed and over-the-counter (OTC) antihistamines. Although they may bring some relief for your allergies, they can dry up cervical fluid which can drastically hinder your efforts to conceive.

Cervical fluid functions to:

–nourish sperm for up to 5 days

–filter out abnormal sperm

–make the environment within the vagina less acidic

–provide a means for the sperm to travel through the uterus and fallopian tubes.

Without adequate quantities of fertile cervical fluid, the chances of sperm making their way towards the egg are massively reduced.

If you can avoid taking standard antihistamines, do so. Fortunately, there are some natural remedies for allergy season that won?t interfere with cervical fluid production.

#1: Avoid exposure to the allergen as much as is possible

Close windows (home and car) whenever possible until the majority of the plume has passed.

#2: Neti Pots

Neti pots work by flushing your nasal passages of the tiny, prickly sea urchin-like pollen particles. Use a neti pot twice daily using salt water (especially after time spent in the outdoors) for maximum relief.

#3: Stock your pantry with allergy-fighting foods rich in Omega-3s

Cold-water fish, flaxseed, walnuts are all good sources. You can also use Cod Liver Oil supplements (which have the added benefit of actually improving the quality of your cervical fluid). Experts recommend sticking to between 20,000 and 30,000 UI per day, particularly if you are trying to conceive.

#4: Stinging Nettles

Stinging nettles actually inhibit the production of histamine (which is causing your eyes, nose to leak). Nettles are a natural antihistamine. They come in capsule form, 300mg, and will provide some relief (albeit temporary). Dried nettles can be consumed as a tea or the fresh herb can be prepared to make a tincture for similar results.

#5: Raw Honey

Raw unprocessed honey contains 90% of the pollens, dusts and molds that are causing your allergies in the first place. A teaspoon of raw honey, daily, is similar in effect to a natural allergy shot.

Kimberly Racic, a fertility educator and founder of FertilityFlower.com, commented on the research:

‘Cervical fluid is critically important in baby-making. So, doing whatever you can to preserve the quality and quantity of the cervical fluid is key and avoiding those substances that cause cervical fluid to dry up. The ideal scenario is one in which you receive relief from the symptoms of your seasonal allergies while actually improving the quality and quantity of cervical fluid – such as via Cod Liver Oil supplements.’

FreshSkin Announces Low Level Light Laser Therapy (LLLT), One of the Most Advanced Non-Surgical Treatments Available for Hair Loss Solutions

Highland Park, IL (PRWEB) November 19, 2014

Dr. Josie Tenore and the FreshSkin team announced today that a new treatment for hair loss ? Low Level Light Laser Therapy ? has been added to their practice. Very few things are more devastating than hair loss. According to recent statistics approximately 21 million women and 35 million men in the United States suffer from hair loss.

?I have been practicing medicine for 30 years and I have watched many of my patients, both men and women, lose their hair. Now I can help put a smile back on their faces and regrow their hair by using a laser and not a scalpel,? said Dr. Josie with FreshSkin Aesthetic Medicine Center.

Lasers are widely used in medicine and now they are being used successfully to stimulate hair growth.

It works because light laser therapy stimulates the hair follicles in an environment where they can thrive. The FreshSkin light laser therapy will deliver gentle, nourishing laser light that is applied directly to the scalp to increase blood flow around the hair follicles. This results in follicles that are infused with the energy needed to stimulate growth.

?This is not a one-time treatment. Typically we see patients two to three times a week, generally for 20 minutes each session. Depending on the diagnosis and reason for the hair loss, it could be a treatment we recommend for a number of months,? said Dr. Josie Tenore.

Low Level Light Laser Therapy is non-invasive so patients should not feel any discomfort. Because this is a ?cold? laser, there is no burning or UV radiation associated with the procedure. One of the great benefits is that patients are able to immediately return to their normal schedule and resume their regular activities. Anyone suffering from hair loss and those individuals that may be noticing the first signs of hair loss, men and women alike, can benefit from this new advancement in hair restoration.

?My vision has always been to help people feel good?on the inside and out. That?s why I began my practice as a family physician and then decided to specialize in aesthetics,? said Dr. Josie Tenore.
